Summary
Adds the death penalty as a permissible punishment for attempting to assassinate officials protected by federal law. This bill would amend 18 U.S.C. §1751(c) by inserting the words "death or" before the term "imprisonment." The result is that attempts to assassinate the same set of designated individuals listed in 18 U.S.C. §1751 could carry either imprisonment or death as the statutory punishment.
