No Funds for Iran War Act

Summary

Would ban federal funds for any use of military force in or against the Islamic Republic of Iran until Dec. 31, 2026. It would stop obligating or spending any appropriated or otherwise available federal funds for military action directed at the Islamic Republic of Iran starting on the law's enactment date. Two narrow exceptions apply. One allows force that is consistent with section 2(c) of the War Powers Resolution. The other allows force necessary to defend the United States or an ally from an imminent attack. In either exception the President must comply with the reporting and other requirements of section 5(b) of the War Powers Resolution.

Ban federal funding for war with Iran

If enacted, this bill would bar the federal government from obligating or spending any funds for any use of military force in or against the Islamic Republic of Iran. The ban would start on the date of enactment and last through December 31, 2026. It would not apply if, after enactment, Congress declares war on Iran or passes a specific law authorizing the use of force. It would also allow force already permitted by section 2(c) of the War Powers Resolution and force needed to defend the United States or an ally from an imminent attack, but the President would have to follow the War Powers Resolution reporting requirements in section 5(b).
