SBA Artificial Intelligence Utilization Act of 2026
Sponsored By: Representative Finstad, Brad [R-MN-1]
In Committee
Summary
Requires annual, detailed reports on the Small Business Administration’s use of artificial intelligence and machine learning. The bill would require the SBA Administrator to submit an initial report within 90 days and yearly reports thereafter to the House Committee on Small Business and the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship. The Administrator would also provide a briefing to those committees within 30 days after each report. Each report must describe how the SBA uses AI and ML, the benefits and risks, steps to retain human involvement in important decisions, which tasks AI can or cannot reliably perform, how to choose appropriate tools for a task, and whether a tool adequately meets SBA needs using the AI and ML definitions from the 2021 National Defense Authorization Act.
