New national workplace harassment commission

This bill would create the National Commission to Combat Workplace Sexual Harassment. The commission would have 11 members, at least 6 of whom must be women, appointed by Congressional leaders and the President within 45 days. The commission would meet within 60 days, hold hearings, collect testimony, and must send a report to the President and Congress and hold a hearing on that report within 18 months. Members would serve without pay but receive travel expenses and per diem; the Director could be paid up to Executive Schedule level IV and staff pay would be capped at the equivalent of level V. The commission would be able to request information from federal agencies, hire temporary staff and contractors subject to appropriations, use GSA office space on a reimbursable basis, and would terminate 60 days after it files its report.
