Bull Mountains coal mine could proceed

This bill would let the leaseholder mine federal coal under Lease MTM 97988 on about 800 acres in Musselshell County, Montana. Mining would have to follow the Bull Mountains Mining Plan Modification (Amendment 3, Bull Mountains Mine No. 1, approved in a concurrence memo on November 18, 2020). The Interior Secretary would have to approve that plan, without modification or delay, within 30 days after enactment, as needed to mine the listed land. The land is the NE 1/4 of section 8; SW 1/4 of section 10; and W 1/2, SE 1/4 of section 22 in T. 6 N., R. 27 E., Montana Principal Meridian. If passed, this could bring local mining jobs and revenue, and could also create nearby environmental and community impacts.
