Summary
Bans intentionally added PFAS in food packaging to keep these chemicals out of the food supply. The bill amends the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to prohibit introducing or delivering for introduction into interstate commerce any food packaging that contains intentionally added PFAS. It defines PFAS as a class of fluorinated organic chemicals that contain at least one fully fluorinated methyl or methylene carbon. The prohibition takes effect January 1, 2027 and the short title is the Keep Food Containers Safe from PFAS Act of 2026.
