Recognize and celebrate National Salvation Army Week and highlight the organization's long record of serving individuals and families in need. The resolution would cite the Salvation Army's 1865 founding, the Red Kettle fundraising tradition from 1891, and its provision of disaster relief, food assistance, shelters, rehabilitation and youth programs, job training, and other services that reach more than 27 million Americans annually, and it would commend the organization and encourage Americans to volunteer and donate.
