National Campus Sexual Assault Awareness Month would be designated for September 2026 by this resolution to focus attention on sexual violence as students return to campus. It highlights that freshmen and sophomores face higher risk, that more than 50 percent of college sexual assaults happen from August through November, that less than 12 percent of rapes and attempted rapes are reported, and that many colleges lack confidential reporting, training, or recent investigations, with 10 percent disallowing confidential reports, 22 percent offering no response training for faculty and staff, and 41 percent reporting no sexual assault investigations in the last five years.
