Amending the Rules of the House of Representatives to exclude employees of the offices of Members who serve on certain committees of the House from the allotment of the number of employees of the office who may hold security clearances processed by the Office of House Security if such employees are members of the armed forces who hold a security clearance issued by the Department of Defense, and for other purposes.

Military staff clearances not counted in some House offices

If adopted, this resolution would let some military staff in certain House offices not count toward the office limit on staff with security clearances processed by the Office of House Security. It would apply only if the employee is in the armed forces and already holds a Defense Department clearance. It would apply only in the office of a Member, Delegate, or Resident Commissioner who serves on specific panels, such as Armed Services, Foreign Affairs, Homeland Security, Intelligence, or the Defense, Homeland Security, or State and Foreign Operations Appropriations subcommittees. The staffer’s usable clearance would be capped at the lower of their Defense Department level or the highest level the office may sponsor.
