Summary

Pilatus PC-24 airplane owners need to update their flight manuals by December 30, 2025, to fix a flight director error during landing. This quick fix changes the Abnormal Procedures Section to keep flights safe without big costs or downtime. If you fly a PC-24, this update is a must to keep your plane flying smoothly and safely!

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 1 costs, 0 mixed.

Fixes Flight Director Error to Protect Safety

The AD addresses a reported inaccurate flight director calculation on approach (APEX Build 5.3 and below) that can cause heading splits and lateral offsets to the desired approach course. The required AFM revision aims to prevent increased pilot workload and a reduction in safety margins caused by this error.

PC-24 AFM Update Required by Dec 30, 2025

If you operate a Pilatus Model PC-24, you must incorporate a temporary revision into your airplane flight manual (AFM) that revises the Abnormal Procedures Section by December 30, 2025. The rule adopts EASA AD 2024-0240 and makes this AFM-TR mandatory to address an inaccurate flight director calculation on approach.

Self-Perform AFM Revision Saves Operator Cost

The AD allows the owner/operator (pilot) holding at least a private pilot certificate to perform the AFM revision and enter compliance in aircraft records per 14 CFR 43.9(a) and 91.417(a)(2)(v). The FAA estimates this affects 150 U.S.-registered PC-24 airplanes at 1 work-hour x $85 per hour, a $85 cost per airplane and $12,750 total for U.S. operators.
