Published Date: 12/12/2025

Proposed Rule

Summary

The FAA plans to cancel Airway V-320 near Mount Pleasant, Michigan, because they're shutting down the VOR part of the local navigation system but keeping the DME part. This change mainly affects pilots who use this route for flying. Comments on this plan are open until January 26, 2026, and there’s no expected cost impact for travelers or airlines.

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 1 costs, 0 mixed.

V-320 Airway Will Be Revoked

The FAA proposes to revoke VOR Federal Airway V-320 in its entirety in the vicinity of Mount Pleasant, Michigan, because the VOR portion of the Mount Pleasant VOR/DME is planned for decommissioning. Pilots who currently use V-320 may use adjacent VOR Federal Airways V-78, V-133, V-420, RNAV Route T-265, point-to-point RNAV fixes, or request radar vectors from Air Traffic Control.

DME Portion Retained for NextGen Procedures

Although the VOR portion of the Mount Pleasant VOR/DME is planned for decommissioning, the co-located DME portion will be retained to support current and future NextGen performance-based navigation (PBN) procedures.

FAA Expects No Cost to Travelers or Airlines

The FAA states there is no expected cost impact for travelers or airlines from this proposed revocation and has determined the anticipated impact is minimal, not a significant regulatory action, and not a significant rule.
