Cotton Ginning Survey Extended

The National Agricultural Statistics Service intends to revise and extend the Cotton Ginning Survey for a period of three years. Active cotton gins are asked to respond; the agency estimates the public reporting burden at 10–15 minutes per respondent per survey, with an estimated 600 respondents and a total annual burden of 1,300 hours, and it states no extra costs are expected.

Respondent Data Confidentiality Assured

Individually identifiable data collected in the Cotton Ginning Survey will be kept confidential under Section 1770 of the Food Security Act (7 U.S.C. 2276) and the Confidential Information Protection and Statistical Efficiency Act (CIPSEA) of 2018 (Title III, Public Law 115-435, codified in 44 U.S.C. Ch. 35). NASS states these protections apply to respondents and supports data sharing only under the limitations and penalties in those laws.
