Temporary Security Zone Blocks River Traffic
From 12:01 a.m. on February 14, 2026, through 11:59 p.m. on February 17, 2026, all navigable waters within 350 yards of the Left Descending Bank of the Lower Mississippi River from Mile Marker 94.4 to 95.7 Above Head of Passes near New Orleans are a security zone. No person or vessel may enter that area unless authorized by the Captain of the Port New Orleans; to request permission call (504) 365-2209 or use VHF-FM Channel 16 or 67. Vessels in the zone must transit at their slowest speed and follow lawful orders from the Captain of the Port or a designated representative.
