Medicare Extra Help eligibility checks

If you apply for the Medicare Part D low-income subsidy (Extra Help), the Social Security Administration will use data from the Treasury about Savings Securities to verify your self-certification of income, resources, and family size. This matching program starts April 2, 2026 and will run for 18 months and applies to people who apply for the Extra Help subsidy.

Treasury will share Savings Securities details

The Treasury Fiscal Service will disclose Savings Securities ownership data to SSA, including Social Security numbers, denomination, serial number, series, issue date, current redemption value, purchase amount, account numbers, and confirmation numbers when a match occurs.
