Reporting Burden Continues for Licensees

The NRC is renewing the information collection (OMB No. 3150-0008) that applies to all NRC specific licensees who place byproduct, source, or special nuclear material into transportation and to people who apply for NRC package design approval. The agency estimates 225 respondents, 612 annual responses, and a total of 30,739 hours per year (26,033 reporting + 4,575 recordkeeping + 131 third-party disclosure).

Safety Oversight for Radioactive Shipments Maintained

The information collection supports NRC oversight to approve package designs, capture and evaluate incidents or package defects, and ensure activities use NRC-approved quality assurance programs. That continued collection helps keep safety rules for packaging and transporting radioactive material clear and up-to-date, affecting companies and workers who handle these shipments.
