Request to Allow Battery-Powered PAPRs

Marfork Coal Company asks MSHA to change 30 CFR 75.1002(a) so miners at the Glen Alum Tunnel Mine (MSHA ID 46-09375) in Raleigh County, West Virginia can use a 3M Versaflow TR-800-HIK powered air purifying respirator (PAPR) motor/blower and battery. If MSHA approves the modification, miners at that mine could use PAPRs for respirable dust protection and comfort, and the company says it could save the company time or money. MSHA is accepting public comments on the petition through May 4, 2026.
