Sponsored By: Representative Lynch
Became Law
Summary
This law awards a single posthumous Congressional Gold Medal collectively to Glen Doherty, Tyrone Woods, J. Christopher Stevens, and Sean Smith in recognition of their contributions to the Nation related to the Benghazi attack. The Secretary of the Treasury designs and strikes the medal and may include images and the names of the four honorees, the gold medal is given to the Central Intelligence Agency Museum for display and research and may be shown elsewhere, and the Secretary may strike and sell bronze duplicates with costs and proceeds handled through the United States Mint Public Enterprise Fund.

Bronze copies of medal for sale
The Treasury can make and sell bronze copies of the Congressional Gold Medal. Prices must cover the Mint’s costs. Money from sales goes to the Mint’s Public Enterprise Fund. The Mint can use this fund to pay for making the medals. The law treats these medals as official numismatic and national medals, guiding how the Mint sells and accounts for them.
Budget scoring rule for this law
The law sets how budget scorekeepers count this law under pay-as-you-go rules. They use the House Budget Chair’s latest printed statement for this law, but only if it was filed before the final vote. That statement can show a cost or a savings. This rule does not itself spend money or change who gets benefits or pays taxes.
