Alaska adds one superior court judge

Beginning July 1, 2026, Alaska’s Superior Court has 46 judges instead of 45. The Third Judicial District gets the added judge, increasing its total from 28 to 29. The First, Second, and Fourth districts keep six, three, and eight judges, respectively. When submitting nominees to the governor for a vacancy, the Judicial Council must name the appointee’s district of residence and service.
