Alaska ends seasonal clock changes

The law requires all Alaska to stay on its applicable standard time during the federal daylight saving period. This starts March 11, 2028, or earlier when the U.S. Department of Transportation completes the requested time-zone change. Effective immediately, Alaska must petition that department to move all areas east of longitude 155.00° W into Pacific Standard Time. The requested boundary allows minor changes requested by nearby communities. The petition requirement is repealed if the change is not completed by January 1, 2028. That repeal does not cancel the daylight saving exemption.
