Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.

Arkansas lawmakers get interim expense funding

The law funds lawmakers’ interim expense reimbursements from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026. The Constitutional Officers Fund provides $368,000 for House members and $200,000 for senators. Payments cover legally authorized interim expenses incurred by members. The House Chief of Staff or a designee handles House payments; the Secretary of the Senate handles Senate payments. All spending under this act must match the purposes stated in state budget documents.

Eligible Arkansas lawmakers get institute travel payments

Beginning July 1, 2025, members of the preceding General Assembly and newly elected House and Senate members qualify. They are eligible to attend the Institute of Legislative Procedure, held every two years. Attendees who file a claim receive the daily payment set by law for legislative sessions for each attendance day. They also receive mileage for travel from their residence to the Institute and back. This provision does not state payment rates or a total funding amount.

Arkansas judge funding includes claim deadlines

The law sets aside $830,000 from the Constitutional Officers Fund for July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026. This includes $80,000 for district judges’ travel, $350,000 for special or recalled circuit judges, and $400,000 for trial judges’ expenses. The Auditor of State handles these payments and checks judge travel claims for accuracy and compliance with travel rules. District judges must submit travel reimbursement claims within 60 days after the travel or expense ends.
