Metropolitan port authority employees are now eligible to join the Arkansas Public Employees’ Retirement System. Their employer must be a port authority created under the Metropolitan Port Authority Act of 1961. The law also recognizes these authorities as participating public employers. It does not set benefit amounts, change contribution rates, or specify a start date.
