For July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026, the law sets aside $2.25 million for State Claims Commission awards. This covers qualifying surviving spouses and dependent children of police officers, firefighters, correctional officers, and other specified state employees. The employee must have been killed in the official line of duty, and the award must qualify under existing law. The money also covers small disputed and undisputed claims awarded by the commission. The law does not set an individual payment amount.
The law provides $8,000 from the State Central Services Fund for Firefighter Benefit Review Panel expense reimbursements. The funding covers July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026. It pays panel expenses, not general benefits for firefighters or their families. The law does not set an individual reimbursement amount.
For July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026, the commission gets $762,346 from the State Central Services Fund. This includes $477,967 for regular salaries, $188,989 for personal services matching, and $95,390 for operating expenses. Conference and travel, professional fees, capital purchases, and data processing each receive $0. The law caps regular employees at 10: one director at GS13, one attorney specialist at GS11, and one administrative analyst at GS06. It also allows two Administrative Specialist II positions at GS03 and five claims commissioners at GS02. All spending under this law is limited to approved amounts and legally available funds. Spending must follow state procurement, accounting, budget, revenue stabilization, salary, and finance department rules, and the purposes documented in budget requests and recommendations.
