For July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026, the Office of Early Childhood gets about $268.67 million in federal funding. The state's Chief Fiscal Officer designates these federal funds for staff, operations, and grants. The law also provides about $15.37 million from the Child Care and Early Childhood Education Fund Account. That includes $2.5 million for grants and aid, $3 million for professional services, and about $7.59 million for operating expenses. All spending under this law must stay within approved amounts and available funds, and follow state purchasing, budget, and salary laws. Spending must also follow the purposes stated in the budget materials; the law does not set family payment amounts or eligibility.
From July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026, the law provides $139,676 for commodity distribution and salvage container operations. This includes $130,186 for operating expenses and $9,490 for conferences and travel. The money comes from a State Treasury cash fund determined by the state's Chief Fiscal Officer. It does not create a direct family payment or change eligibility.
For July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026, the law provides $9 million for child care program grants and expenses. That money comes from the Child Care Grant Fund Account. It also provides $200,000 from the Child Care Fund for facility grants authorized by law. Another $36,786 funds loan guarantees and grants, using a State Treasury cash fund determined by the state's Chief Fiscal Officer. These provisions do not set grant eligibility details, family payments, or individual award amounts.
From July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026, the Office of Early Childhood can employ up to 177 regular workers. The law sets their job classifications and salary limits. It also allows up to 13 temporary or part-time workers when needed. Their pay must come from extra-help funds and stay within applicable rates under state compensation law or this act.
