Arkansas teacher retirees can change pension options

Beginning July 1, 2025, Arkansas Teacher Retirement System retirees can change their pension payment option once. You qualify if you retired on or after July 1, 1994. Within one year of retirement, you must file a system-approved election form and complete the required repayment. You must repay the difference between payments received and payments due under the new option, calculated back to retirement. Interest runs from your retirement date until full payment. Your new option starts the month after you complete the filing and repayment.
