More clinicians can sign patient forms

Arkansas allows advanced practice registered nurses and physician assistants to meet physician-signature requirements for listed forms and medical equipment approvals. They can certify disabilities for disabled parking permits or placards. Covered forms include student sports physicals, bus driver physicals, do-not-resuscitate orders, illness-related jury excuses, and death certificates. They also include workers’ compensation forms and forms excusing absences from work or school. Equipment approvals include orthotics, prosthetics, and diabetic shoes or inserts for patients with diabetes and existing foot disease. Those shoes or inserts must reduce skin-breakdown risk and relieve pressure to prevent diabetic foot ulcers.
