Montgomery County, Arkansas, separates its sheriff and tax collector offices beginning January 1, 2027. Voters elect both officers at the 2026 general election, and both take office on January 1, 2027. Each must provide a bond for faithfully carrying out duties, as required by law. The county Quorum Court sets each officer’s pay within minimum and maximum limits set by the Arkansas General Assembly. Each officer hires deputies and receives other allowances as set by the Quorum Court.
