Arkansas school employees can cancel next-year contracts

Arkansas public school district and open-enrollment public charter school employees can cancel signed contracts for the next school year. You do not need the school's approval. Submit a signed, written notice stating that you are canceling the contract before the business day ends on May 15. If May 15 falls on a weekend, the deadline is before the business day ends on the preceding Friday. Send it to the district superintendent, charter school director, or their designated representative. Existing requirements and limits under Arkansas Code § 6-17-2403 still apply. The law takes effect immediately to support drafting and issuing contracts for the 2025-2026 school year.
