Beginning July 1, 2025, the law provides about $145.57 million for the University of Arkansas–Fort Smith through June 30, 2026. This includes about $27.29 million from its state fund and $118.28 million from university cash funds. Funding includes about $44.27 million for regular salaries, $1.655 million for extra help, and $11.6 million for employer benefit costs. It also includes $2.6 million in state-funded operating expenses and $25 million in cash-funded maintenance and operations. Cash funds cover $5.25 million in capital outlay, $31.5 million in campus improvements, and $8 million in debt payments. Another $12 million covers fund transfers, refunds, and investments. Spending must stay within approved amounts and follow state purchasing, budget, payroll, and finance rules. This funding supports university services; it does not directly change tuition, taxes, or household payments.
From July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026, the University of Arkansas–Fort Smith can employ up to 1,025 regular employees. The law sets job counts and maximum salaries for faculty, administrators, support staff, and Western Arkansas Area Technical Center staff. Examples include a $290,076 chancellor salary cap, 42 academic advisor positions, and 300 part-time faculty positions. The university can also hire up to 910 temporary or part-time extra-help workers when needed, using extra-help funds. Their pay cannot exceed the job's allowed rate under state compensation law or this act; no authorized job or maximum salary is guaranteed.
