Vacated street land transfers with neighboring property
When an Arkansas city or town abandons a street or alley by ordinance, neighboring property owners own their portions outright. Each owner's portion extends to the center line, without the city's right to use it as a public street or alley. That land transfers with the neighboring property unless the owner expressly reserves it, even when transfer documents omit it. For property shown on a plat, that land map is amended to include the owner's portion. The law applies retroactively to abandonments after February 6, 1945. It does not affect lawsuits already pending in court.
