Lower patient costs for breast exams

Under Arkansas law, health plans cannot make patients share the cost of covered screening mammograms or breast ultrasounds. This applies across different service dates and when multiple services occur on the same date. For covered diagnostic breast cancer exams, including breast MRI, patient cost-sharing must be at least as favorable as for screening exams. Other applicable health plan rules still apply.

No insurer payment for unaccredited mammograms

Arkansas law bars health insurers from paying for mammograms performed at unaccredited facilities. Patients cannot get insurer payment for mammograms at those facilities. The law does not say who must cover any unpaid charge.
