Arkansas schools get revised funding

Arkansas districts receive $8,162 per student in base funding for 2025–2026, including $320 for the employer insurance contribution. Funding uses the district’s average daily membership from the prior school year. For 2026–2027 and later years, base funding is $8,037 per student, with insurance funded separately. The Department of Education pays the $333 minimum employer contribution directly to the Employee Benefits Division for districts. This changes the funding route; the law does not specify changes to employee premiums or coverage.

More school funding for alternative learning

Arkansas districts receive $5,212 per identified alternative learning student for 2025–2026 and $5,341 for 2026–2027. Funding uses the number of identified students enrolled in the prior school year. State Board of Education rules govern distribution. The money supports school services, not direct payments to families.

More school funding for English learners

Arkansas districts receive $375 per identified English learner for 2025–2026 and $384 for 2026–2027 and later years. Students must be found not proficient in English on a state-approved assessment. Districts must spend the money only on activities allowed by State Board of Education rules. This funding adds to support for national school lunch students.

More school support for low-income students

Arkansas districts receive Enhanced Student Achievement funding for each identified national school lunch student. Rates depend on those students’ share of district enrollment in the prior school year. At 90% or more, rates are $1,653 for 2025–2026 and $1,694 for 2026–2027. At 70% to under 90%, rates are $1,103 and $1,130; below 70%, they are $551 and $565, respectively. State Board of Education rules govern distribution.
