Beginning January 1, 2026, covered health plans offered, issued, renewed, delivered, or extended in Arkansas must cover lung cancer screenings and follow-up care. Care must follow American Cancer Society guidelines. This coverage is not subject to the usual annual deductible, copayment, or coinsurance limit, and cannot reduce other plan benefits. Covered plans include Medicaid, Arkansas Health and Opportunity for Me, and nonfederal government health plans. The mandate excludes dental-only, vision-only, disability-income, credit, long-term-care-only, accident-only, workers’ compensation, and specified liability and other limited insurance coverage. The Insurance Commissioner, Department of Human Services secretary, and State Board of Finance must issue rules for the plans they oversee.
