Excursion boat operators gain alcohol permit access

Arkansas extends its excursion train alcohol permit program to excursion boats. Eligible boats sell public tickets for scheduled trips on navigable waters, with a fixed schedule or route and defined endpoints. Excursion trains follow a parallel public-ticketing and fixed-schedule framework. Operators apply to the Arkansas Alcoholic Beverage Control Division through a written, verified application with applicant and premises information. Approved permits identify the train or boat and authorize onboard alcohol sales and service. Permit holders can serve ticketed passengers and chartered-event attendees for onboard drinking during legal operating hours. Sales and service are allowed only in areas that authorize alcohol sales. Operators can store legally purchased drinks onboard or at a separate facility to meet demand. They must post a permit copy in each train or boat serving alcohol. The division's director can issue rules to run the program.
