Arkansas public workers gain retirement eligibility credit
The Arkansas Public Employees’ Retirement System (APERS) can count each year of earlier work covered by a qualifying alternate retirement plan. This credit helps members qualify for monthly retirement benefits; it does not increase the benefit amount. Members must not have vested in that plan, received a payment, or withdrawn contributions. Members must provide proof of these conditions from both the covered employer and the alternate plan. The APERS Executive Director must find the proof sufficient and confirm that all other requirements for crediting service are met.
