Beginning July 1, 2025, Arkansas's Division of Heritage can use remaining funds from earlier project budgets. Special maintenance funding is capped at $750,000 from the Arkansas Division of Heritage Special Fund Account. Another $14.317956 million is available from the Arkansas Natural and Cultural Resources Grant and Trust Fund. That money supports buying, managing, caring for, or preserving state-owned lands, historic sites, buildings, structures, and objects. Both amounts are limited to the unspent balances of the earlier appropriations. Agencies cannot award contracts or take on obligations beyond money actually available in the State Treasury. They can supplement project funding with grants, donations, federal funds, and available cash not committed elsewhere—but not general operating funds. Spending must follow applicable state purchasing, accounting, budgeting, and fiscal-control laws unless another law specifically provides otherwise. It must also match the purposes documented in official budget requests and recommendations. This funding supports heritage resources, not direct household payments.
