Arkansas parks keep funding for preservation

Beginning July 1, 2025, Arkansas’s State Parks and Tourism Divisions can reuse up to $16.52 million from an earlier appropriation. Funding is limited to the remaining balance from Section 25 of Act 24 of 2024. It comes from the Arkansas Natural and Cultural Resources Grant and Trust Fund. The money supports buying, managing, caring for, or preserving state-owned lands, historic sites, buildings, structures, and objects. Contracts and commitments cannot exceed money actually available from the State Treasury. Grants, donations, federal funds, and other available, uncommitted cash can supplement that money. The agency cannot use its regular operating funds for these projects. Spending must follow state purchasing and fiscal rules, unless another law provides otherwise, and match the documented budget reasons for approval. This law does not provide direct household payments.
