Arkansas renews funding for crime lab

Beginning July 1, 2025, Arkansas renews unused spending authority from its 2024 appropriation for the state crime lab facility project. The Department of Public Safety can use up to $207.318105 million from the Development and Enhancement Fund. Contracts and obligations cannot exceed funds actually available in the State Treasury. Agencies can supplement that money with grants, donations, federal funds, and available cash not already committed. They cannot use money set aside for maintenance and general operations. Spending must follow state purchasing, accounting, budget, and other financial-control rules unless another law specifically provides otherwise. It must also match the purposes recorded in budget materials and official legislative records.
