Disabled veterans get property tax penalty relief

In Arkansas, eligible disabled veterans avoid the 10% penalty for each delinquent year when redeeming property they own. This relief applies only when redeeming from the Commissioner of State Lands, not the county. Veterans must meet the definition in Arkansas Code § 26-3-306(a)(1)(A)(i) and submit the letter required by § 26-3-306(b)(1)(A) to the Commissioner. They must also meet the redemption requirements under § 26-37-310. They still owe delinquent taxes, 10% simple interest for each delinquent year, and county and state costs.
