Remote mammogram readings require patient waivers

Arkansas facilities can use off-site doctors to read diagnostic mammograms, but doctors must be immediately available by telecommunication. Patients must sign a waiver acknowledging that remote evaluations may have limits compared with in-person evaluations. Facilities must give patients their results before they leave after the evaluation. The Department of Health must align facility quality standards with federal mammography standards and remove rules requiring on-site doctors. State standards for doctors who read mammograms cannot be stricter than the federal standards.
