Arkansas’s official map coordinate system follows the National Geodetic Survey’s system, based on the National Spatial Reference System or their successors. A tract covered by one land description that crosses coordinate zones can use one zone for all boundary points. The description must name that zone. The law repeals older zone definitions, projection and origin rules, and requirements to mark the system with survey stations. It also removes the old restriction on using “Arkansas Coordinate System 1983” on maps and survey documents.
