More state-duty roles for Arkansas Guard members

With the governor’s approval, the Adjutant General can activate Arkansas National Guard members for military-justice matters covered by the law. This authority applies when federal Title 32 duty-status orders are unavailable. Covered roles include accused members, witnesses, prosecution and defense lawyers, paralegals, military judges, hearing and deposition officers, marshals, bailiffs, court reporters, and panel members. Guard members can also volunteer for state active duty to fill critical shortages in security or essential military operations. Both uses require the governor’s approval, and the Adjutant General determines the needed length, extent, and manner of service.
