For fiscal year 2024–2025, Arkansas provides $19.5 million more for Department of Corrections medical contracts. It also provides $6.5 million more to reimburse counties that house state inmates. Both amounts add to funding under Act 49 of 2024. The law takes effect immediately and requires the Chief Fiscal Officer to transfer the money from the General Revenue Allotment Reserve Fund. Medical funding goes to the officer’s chosen paying account; county funding goes to the County Jail Reimbursement Fund. Spending must stay within approved amounts and legally available funds, and serve the stated budget purposes. It must also follow state purchasing, accounting, budgeting, revenue, salary, and Department of Finance and Administration rules.
