Stricter rules for Arkansas unemployment benefits

Beginning January 1, 2026, Arkansas unemployment applicants must register for work and report to a workforce office as required. You must create and maintain a state job-board profile with your work history, credentials or licenses, and relevant job details. Each week you claim benefits, you must make at least five work-search contacts and report them with your weekly certification. If you do not complete and report the required contacts, you cannot get benefits for that week. The Division must audit at least 100 weekly work-search reports to verify them. The director can waive or change registration and reporting requirements for people attached to regular jobs. The director can also do so when compliance is oppressive or conflicts with the law's purpose. These rules cannot conflict with Arkansas Code § 11-10-501.

Job matches for Arkansas unemployment claimants

Beginning January 1, 2026, Arkansas's state job board matches unemployment claimants with posted jobs. A match means your qualifications meet at least 75% of a job's requirements, as calculated by the board. With five or more matches, you are encouraged to apply to your five highest-ranked matches. With fewer than five, you are encouraged to apply to those matches and other board listings to meet work-search requirements. These application recommendations are not extra mandatory requirements.
