Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 0 costs, 0 mixed.

Medicaid pays infant RSV administration fees

Arkansas Medicaid pays providers to give infants and toddlers immunizations or monoclonal antibodies offering long-lasting protection against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). The payment equals 100% of the maximum administration fee under Arkansas’s Vaccines for Children Program. This applies across all Medicaid enrollment categories, including provider-led organized care. Licensed hospitals do not have to add related services. The Department of Human Services must seek any federal waiver, state plan amendment, or other approval needed to implement this payment.

RSV care providers gain civil liability protection

People and organizations involved in providing long-lasting protection against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) to eligible patients receive civil liability protection. This covers prescribing, dispensing, administering, or otherwise helping administer an RSV immunization or monoclonal antibody. Protection does not cover grossly negligent, reckless, or willful acts during administration. It also excludes actions taken without good faith and reasonable care.
