In Arkansas, petitions challenging four types of assessor decisions must start in the county court where the property is located. These cover tax-exempt status and agricultural, pasture, or timberland values set using state Assessment Coordination Division methods. They also cover producing mineral-rights values set using the division's methods. They include homestead tax relief eligibility for people with disabilities or age 65 or older. County equalization boards cannot accept or hear these petitions; the law does not change tax amounts or relief eligibility.
