Arkansas patients gain nurse-led stimulant substitution options

Arkansas law allows advanced practice registered nurses to replace a physician-prescribed stimulant with a therapeutically equivalent medicine. The physician must have started the original prescription. That physician must have evaluated the patient within six months before the nurse issues the prescription. The new prescription must treat the same condition, and the nurse must notify the original physician about the substitution. Substitution is allowed, not required.
