Charter schools gain adult education pay eligibility

Open-enrollment public charter schools now join school districts in adult education minimum pay rules. The rules cover part-time teachers and part-time paraprofessionals working in adult education programs. The Adult Education Section sets the pay schedule, with approval from the Division of Workforce Services director. Charter schools also gain funding eligibility, subject to the compensation law’s funding requirements. The law does not guarantee any school or worker a payment.

College raise funds reserved for employee pay

Arkansas colleges and universities must use designated new Revenue Stabilization Law funding only for current-year salary increases. This applies when the Division of Higher Education identifies the new funding as money for raises. Spending must follow state general revenue’s share of total unrestricted education and general revenue. At each fiscal year’s end, unused designated funds are recovered and transferred to the General Revenue Allotment Reserve Fund. The law specifies no funding amount.
