Arkansas renews building and preservation funding

Beginning July 1, 2025, Arkansas’s Building Authority Division can reuse unused spending authority from 2024 for three project groups. Up to $537,976 supports hydronic piping abatement at the state-owned building at 501 Woodlane. This money comes from a State Treasury cash fund designated by the state’s Chief Fiscal Officer. Up to $324,198 from the Development and Enhancement Fund supports state property maintenance, renovation, equipment, construction, acquisition, improvements, upgrades, and repairs. Up to $364,585 from the Arkansas Natural and Cultural Resources Grant and Trust Fund supports acquiring, managing, and preserving state lands and historic resources, including sites, buildings, structures, and objects. Each amount is limited to the unused balance of its earlier appropriation. Contracts and obligations cannot exceed money actually available in the State Treasury. Departments can add grants, donations, federal funds, and uncommitted cash, but cannot use appropriations designated for Maintenance and General Operations. Spending must follow applicable purchasing, accounting, budget, revenue, and other fiscal-control laws and finance department rules, unless another law provides otherwise. Spending must also match the act’s purposes as documented in budget requests, recommendations, and official legislative records. These funds support public property, not direct household payments.
