Arkansas highway contractors face stricter bond rules

Winning bidders on new Arkansas State Highway Commission construction projects must provide bonds from a surety company the commission approves. The bonds must ensure each contract is fully completed and cover all the state's financial exposure. The law removes the old minimum bond amount of 25% of the contract price. It also ends personal bonds and the related requirement to deposit or escrow collateral equal to 25% of the contract amount.
