Petition collectors must warn signers about fraud

Arkansas petition collectors must tell potential signers that petition fraud is a crime before they sign an initiative or referendum petition. Collectors must give the warning out loud. Only when verbal notice is impossible can they provide written notice, separate from all petition materials. Collectors who fail to give the warning face penalties under the petition law. For the 2026 general election, the emergency clause makes the law effective upon Governor approval, expiration of the veto period without approval or veto, or the final override vote.
